Seeking relief of stress through meditation.

Lifestyle Medicine, lifestyle therapy, hyper-wellness, nature
All of us go through periods of ups and downs, especially in today’s modern society.

We have been programmed to believe that stress is a normal part of life, but how much stress is normal? Long-term effects from excess stress can be detrimental to our physical and mental health. It is extremely important to find ways to reduce stress to avoid becoming depressed, anxious, or developing a stress related physical illness, such as hypertension.

Meditation has been scientifically proven in helping to reduce stress and increase a persons sense of calmness and well-being.  Mediation can lower blood pressure and resting heart rate, improve mood, improve sleep, increase self-awareness, help you focus more on the present moment, and so much more.

Practicing mediation on a regular basis can be advantageous for individuals who are beginners, or have been meditating for a long time.

Meditation can be used by anyone. There are many different forms of meditation but they all have four components in common: a location where you can be undisturbed; a comfortable position (sitting, lying, walking, or in other positions); a focus of attention (a specific chosen word or set of words, an object, or the sensations of the breath); and an open attitude (observing thoughts and not judging them).1

Stress relief
Meditation can be done at anytime of the day. Meditation tends to have a grounding effect and helps to calm the mind. If you are new to mediation, start with just 5-10 minutes a day. As you become more comfortable, you can increase the time to 20-30 minutes a day. Consistency is key, so try to make it a routine that works for your schedule.

Meditation is a great tool to help us to deal more effectively with the pressures we face in a fast-paced world. If you remain open to its possibilities, practicing on a daily basis can lead to a healthier and happier life.
